At inception, KYM was principally involved in the manufacture and marketing of industrial paper bags and paper egg trays.
In 1986, we expanded into the manufacture of corrugated carton boxes with a focus on the Southern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
In 1994, we expanded our market, penetrating the Central and Northern regions.
Two years later, in 1996, we expanded our multiwall industrial paper bag manufacturing facilities, establishing new markets in Northern Peninsular Malaysia via the acquisition of a 100% share in industrial paper packager, Hasrat Meranti Sdn Bhd.
Today, brand names like Farmgold, Superflex, Hercules, Castle, Permex and Primefix stand for the quality, integrity and durability that Hasrat’s products have come to be known for in the market.
With our core business being in the design, manufacture and marketing of corrugated fibreboards, carton boxes and multi-wall industrial paper bags, we are today the largest independent paper sack converter in Southeast Asia in terms of volume, producing on average 80 million to 90 million bags annually.
Forging Ahead and Becoming a Public Company
KYM was incorporated on 30 April 1982 as a private limited company named Polypulp Paper Industries Sdn Bhd, which subsequently converted into a public limited company on 25 February 1991.
On 16 December 1991, shortly after its conversion, the Group became a publicly listed company following its flotation on the Second Board of Bursa Malaysia.
Having grown in size following the flotation, we successfully transferred our listing status to the Main Board of the stock exchange on 8 August 1995.
On 10 April 1996, we changed our name to KYM Holdings Berhad.
KYM Group, with an annual turnover of RM100 million and staff strength of 260 employees, is a global player in the packaging and paper products segment, the group’s main revenue and profit contributor.
